Courses in English as a Second Language

U of T at Scarborough offers credit courses that are specially designed for university students whose first language is not English. All courses require the permission of the instructor.

  • CTLA01H3 (Foundations in Effective Academic Communication) is designed to fast-track the development of critical thinking, reading, writing and oral communication skills.
  • CTLA02H3 (Exploring Cross-Cultural Perspectives in Academic Contexts) develops students' academic and communication skills through a critical exploration of Canadian culture and academic expectations. It will be offered starting in Fall 2012.

To find out more about the courses and the procedures for enrolment, visit the Center for Teaching and Learning page of the UTSC calendar. (Check the timetable for an up-to-date list of the courses currently on offer.)
